Logo Design Trends for 2015
Every year we look forward to Logo Lounge’s annual Logo Design Trend Report, by Bill Gardner. It’s a great go-to source for identifying key logo design trends based on work from the previous year.
The site currently has more than 212,000 logos submitted from designers all over the world. As the founder of Logo Lounge, Gardner sits in a unique position where he is able to grade the entire field of in-the-moment logo design trends. The report serves as the most comprehensive survey in the industry—standing as a historical document that touches not only the design community but businesses, technology and our culture at large.
Just as interesting as the trends shown below, Gardner cites the impact of mobile usage as having an effect on the graphic design industry as our canvas continues to shrink. He also summarizes three meta-trends driving how companies build and evolve their brands and identities:
1. Mono lines that are clear and reduce well on mobile screens.
2. The increasing number of untrained “design tourists” (love that term) who design their own logo but don’t always see the objective nature of design, which is what makes a brand successful.
3. Responsive and versatile logos that adapt to all environments.
Here are the top 15 logo themes excerpted from Gardner’s 2015 trends report:
1. Dot Tip
2. Contours
3. Concentrak
4. Sparkle
5. Pickup Sticks
6. Coloring
7. Circle Break
8. Trixelate
9. Photo
10. Rays
11. Naive
12. Coded
13. Chroma Coaster
